Wow! What a few months it’s been.
It only feels like yesterday when Abi and I were sat in the car together formulating the idea for Polar Threads.
Everything you see here has been the culmination of many months worth of work, with many days spent staying up until the early hours of the morning making artwork, finishing the website, and (of course) designing all the products that are now available! Not only that, but we agonised over suppliers, making sure that everything we do is strongly rooted in our company values. Our mission statement says it best:
Polar Threads was founded on an unshakable desire to run a clothing business that leads the way in social and environmental responsibility.
This belief has driven our decision making from the beginning. We’ve verified our supplier’s ethics, and ensured that our clothing is made to industry-leading ethical standards which is something we care about deeply. This still wasn’t enough, so we’ve taken it one step further.
From the money we make, we want to use some of it for social good. So we are committed to donating a portion of our profits to good causes. Our first charity that we’ll support is the WWF, and their action on climate change.
To make sure we’re doing everything we can in order to look after our planet, even our website’s servers are powered by 100% renewable energy. Wind turbines to be precise!
A few thank yous are in order to the people who helped make our dream a reality! Thank you to both of our parents for giving up many hours of their time for detailed feedback and overall support of our vision (the many meals fed to us, and the frequent interruptions!) Thank you to Rebekah – Abi’s sister – for modelling some of our products, and helping us realise our logo in an even better way than we could have hoped for! Thank you to everyone I’ve basically ignored for the last months getting this project off the ground; your patience and belief in what we’re doing has meant a lot.
We are so excited to start this journey together as a team, it has been an unforgettable experience so far, and we’ve only just gotten started! We’d love to hear from you with suggestions on what we can do better, or things that you love!
